You do wonder why players do not know the basic rules of the game - eg offside play - especially from a kick or penalty - kick-offs, - double movement etc etc.

But then - they claim tries they know are not tries and lie about virtually everything - eg knock-ons.

Why don't Refs let them make the play then penalise them - eg when a player is still in front of the man taking the kick for the line.

One thing I didn't like was the consistent stepping forward off the mark when going to play the ball.
The dodgies were the worst at it and should have been made to take a step or two back by the Refs.
So many simple errors that involved an apparent lack of knowledge of the rules by so called professional players.
My son in law an avid Broncs supporter wasn't happy and believed the crucial part of the game was Kasiano getting a penalty for attacking Sam Thaidays knee with his head:bag:

Dead right. And that's precisely the same reason the game must never embrace this "Captain's Challenge" idea.

    1) It's just another forum for liars. Captain A complains about lifting the knee in a tackle. Captain B replies with a complaint about diving at the legs. Yawn.

    2) Captains will throw in a frivolous yet long-winded challenge [with the clock stopped] if they think their props needs a brief rest or are desperate to disrupt the flow of the game, irrespective of the validity of the challenge. Think of the mischief Cam Smith could do with this rule.

    3) People who already complain about the length of time it takes the Bunker to reach a decision, and there are many of those, will be less than thrilled with the delays from the match officials being wrapped in this new level of side drama.

I don't mind the idea of a Captains challenge as long as it only relates to a technical play issue like forward pass or shepherd or grounding etc involving a try the Ref doesn't send to the Bunker for review and they only get one per game.
Missed Foul play is a matter for the match review committee .......after the game.
re item 1) diving at the legs. The chief instigator Isaac luke got penalised for it ...again in the Dragons match.
re item 2) Captains already get in the Refs face over issues they hope will play on the Refs mind during a match and some are past masters at it like Smith and Gallen.
re item 3) Much happier with the Bunker functioning as it is now rather than when it first started where it was forging a little empire of control over the flow of the game.
A lot of rules seem to be change for changes sake or badly thought out and become a real pain to the watching fans until the bugs are worked out.
I just don't want it to end up like NFL where officials run off the to the side line and stick their heads under a tarp to review their own decisions.

If they are going to fiddle with the rules again we should have a wish list of changes.
    Mine would be ..........
    Bring back the biff
have a season of unlimited tackle and then start their rule changes all over again with the knowledge of what they have already stuffed up in mind.
