We do need to look at all teams. The Tigers are looking very brittle - as are the Titans and Newcastle.

But Saints have from Botany Bay to the Illawarra - to Mossvale and the tablelands. Technically to the Victorian border.

They could never leave Hurstville or Carlton. Bexley or Kogarah. So - I can't see a move to the 'Gong on the cards.

I have to almost agree with Mr Sharky on this one. While the St George side of the merger has a spiritual home and a leagues club at Kogarah they have to all intents and purpose moved to the Gong. They train there, they play the best games there and give Kogarah a token attention. They do however have fans everywhere including places like Europe and probably as many fans as the Sharks do in the Shire.
The problem with Hurstville and Carlton is also changing demographics. The older dragons fans are getting on and dont travel much to see games at the gong while the younger possible fans are more into soccer and other interests due to cultural backgrounds.
Thank heavens for Foxtel but they really need to put some computer generated crowds into some of their games

Saints having Botany Bay to the Illawarra is a slight furphy with us being in the middle.

As SG says the St George area demographic has changed a lot over the years and a lot are into soccer especially the Hurstville, Bexley and Beverly Hills areas being dominated by the Asian communities who are more into soccer than league and a lot of the older Dragons fans are either getting on or passing on.

Plus the St George Junior League is struggling to the point of being non existent, 99% of the Dragons juniors all hail from the Gong.

It would make a lot of sense to move the Dragons to Wollongong permanently and absorb the St George junior league into the Cronulla junior league.

    What's so funny? It's a legitimate post.

I may live in Adelaide now but I've only left Sydney 2 months ago, the place wouldn't have changed that much in 2 months.

C'mon Mr S - we have two Matthews, Ball and Flegg teams - quite a few junior teams - in both main areas, and Under 20s. Plus the Cutters - we don't use another areas team. The Gong does also have a number of very strong local comps as well.

We are perhaps one of the best at juniors etc in the NRL - south of Queensland. Its what costs us so much money.

They just about all play out of the Gong though don't they?. The cutters are the de facto old steelers when in fact they should be the St Merge reserve grade.
I also have to agree with Mr sharky over the St George area(Kogarah, hurst, kingsgrove etc) seemingly being over run by soccer as the prominent game.
Renown footy club used to be packed with games on the weekend but now they have trouble fielding a full complement of sides.
When they vacate the field in the afternoon there is more community soccer games played there until dark.
Its just symptomatic of the changing times unfortunately and while the rot usually sets in from the bottom on this occasion its from the top ranging from inept Nrl management to Nrl player misbehaviour that's steering parents and younger players elsewhere.

Of course we didn't pair up with the Storm to field a lower grade team to make it easier to pay for the Nrl side either:bag:

Cronulla have made a handy signing in Brisbane centre Jordan Drew.
Released from the final year of his deal with the Broncos, the Junior Kangaroo joins the Sharks on a two-year-deal from 2016.
Named in the Holden Cup team of the year, the 20-year-old can also play fullback.

Needs to work on his defence. Hopefully he can prove Bennett wrong.

Cronulla have found their heir apparent to Michael Ennis' hooking role, signing young Wests Tigers dummy-half Manaia Cherrington.

The Sharks needed a pest who could spark their play. Hopefully for the sharks the "heir apparent " will some of the same kind of niggle to his play.

He apparently gave serious thought to retiring but decided the club needed his guidance on the field. Tony Williams is a good buy ...if he can get his mind back in the game and run the ball hard. He made rep teams with his power play a few seasons ago but then his game went missing. As a bench player he could change a game.

you have to or their fans have to hope they dont over buy and ruin the make up of what I said at the start of the year looked to be a very good side and finally got them a grand final. They showed you don't need a team of champions but team that blends well on the field

Josh Dugan - 4 years - $3m. Seems some clubs have a better Cap than others.
