Chooks look a likely mob - but when you look at them they have weaknesses - especially in forwards.

Souths may be looking at a low top 8 spot imo. Depends on SOO reps and injury. Like the rest they really need a good start.

Chooks roster may be a bit week and they could be found out if they get injuries.

    1. Alex Johnston
    2. Campbell Graham
    3. Greg Inglis
    4. Hymel Hunt
    5. Dane Gagai
    6. Cody Walker
    7. Adam Reynolds
    8. Tom Burgess
    9. Damien Cook
    10. Zane Musgrove
    11. John Sutton
    12. Angus Crichton
    13. Sam Burgess

    14. Cam Murray
    15. Tyrell Fuimaono
    16. George Burgess
    17. Sam Johnstone

    Some points:

    - I reckon Inglis' knees will never be the same again. We have him signed until the end of 2020, and he is probably taking up around $1,000,000 of the salary cap per year. We need him on the field for as many games as possible over the next 3 seasons. At fullback he would have to do too much running for his knees, even if he is careful at training. Inglis must be at left centre.

    - Alex Johnston has been improving at fullback and I reckon he should be fullback.

    - Gagai's best position is wing. His defense in the centres isn't very good and he is great with kick returns. I would have him on the right wing, but playing some right centre when we're attacking the try line.

    - Hunt is usually a good defender, and is big and quick, and has a decent fend. I'd have him at right centre.

    - I would probably have young Campbell Graham on the left wing. I see a lot of potential in him and so do NSW selectors, since he is in the emerging NSW squad. He is already very tall and could be used in cross-kicks. He was good in most of his first grade games last year. Might be a little inconsistent, but most young players are. Jennings hasn't been consistent enough in defense to have a first grade spot yet. Burns is bad under bombs. Kenner might play some solid games in first grade, but looks more like a back up level player to me.

    - I want our hooker to play 80 minutes. It seems to disrupt the team when we change between Cook and Farah. I'd go with Cook in the 9, but let's just wait and see how they both go during the pre-season games.

    - Sam Burgess should stay at lock because there he can play in the middle third of the field (which we need) but he can also play out wider at times when we are attacking the try line - we get the best of both worlds. I reckon he would be more effective in defense and attack if he didn't have to play 80 minutes. I reckon he should play around 60 minutes per game.

    - Sutton shouldn't play 80 minutes per game, but he is still a weapon, being able to make line breaks and he has some ball playing skills. I would love to see him get to 300 first grade games with Souths!

    - Sam Johnstone. The kid is a giant! I normally don't like rushing players into first grade, but he is BIG so he might be able to handle it. Let's just wait and see how he goes in the pre-season games.

How will we go this year:

I reckon it will come down to injuries. If we have good luck with injuries then I reckon we can make the top 8. Unfortunately 2 of our most important players (GI and Reynolds) are injury prone. Hopefully they will have some good luck this season!

That would be good if he came back. I'd probably have him on the left wing if he came back.

Sounds good to me! What are the chances of him coming back for this season?

There's strong rumours at this stage, I believe there will be talks around a swap with Farah when Wigan arrives for the match on the 17th.

Yeah that would be good, as long as Farah wouldn't take up any of our salary cap space for this season!

Well atm it looks like he'll be taking up anywhere from $450k to $600k and then play for norths. :(

Yeah Napa and Hargreaves haven't been the best and there isn't much depth there.

An English club might. He would be one of the best hookers in the comp over there.

Is it going to be on TV? I like going to the games, but I like recording them too and watching it on TV later.
